Here at the Lindsborg Housing Authority we offer several different apartment sizes for families and singles. Thirty of our one-bedroom apartments are designated for senior citizens and are equipped with walk-in showers for ease of access as well as hook-ups for laundry. Six of our one-bedroom apartments are designated for singles or couples and feature a galley-style kitchen, washer and dryer hook-ups in the kitchen space, and bathrooms with a tub-shower combination. Fourteen of our apartments are two-story units primarily reserved for families with children. We have eight two-story, two-bedroom apartments and six two-story, three-bedroom apartments. Bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the second floor with laundry hook-ups located adjacent to the kitchen on the first floor. The remainder of our apartments are divided into ten single-story one-bedroom apartments and ten single-story two-bedroom apartments for families or singles of all ages. Two of our single-story one-bedroom apartments and two of our single-story two-bedroom apartments have been modified for handicapped persons with larger bathrooms and walk-in showers.
All our apartments come furnished with either a gas or electric range with stove-top, a refrigerator, roller shades, and central air and heat. Off-street parking is available for at least one vehicle per apartment. The housing authority provides each family with a utility allowance calculated based on apartment size that is deducted from their rent to help offset the costs of utilities that are paid by the tenant. Tenants are responsible for both electric and natural gas utilities while the housing authority pays for water, sewer and refuse collection. Electric and natural gas utility costs run from approximately $90 per month to $140 per month depending on apartment size and tenant preferences. Cable television and/or Internet services are optional and are the responsibility of the tenant. The housing authority is responsible for lawn care and for snow removal when necessary. Centrally located coin-operated washers and dryers are available for tenants who do not have their own laundry equipment. The housing authority has full-time maintenance staff available 24-7 for emergency maintenance requests. A large community room is available for larger tenant family gatherings and special events.
Rents are calculated based upon gross income, with some deductions available for daycare costs, and out-of-pocket medical expenses for senior citizens and disabled persons. All rents are capped at a level below area fair-market rents as determined by HUD for McPherson County, Kansas. You must be income-eligible to qualify for an apartment. Income limits are adjusted annually.
